Standards for Varsity Letter 2010 - Beyond

Section I: Points Earned Performance

	• Placement in Meet	Equivalent Point Value
	• Break a Varsity School Record	2 points / record *
	• Selected for Conference Meet	1 point
	• Selected for District Meet	2 points
	• Qualify for Regional Meet	3 points
	• Qualify for State Meet	4 points

Section II: Points Earned Participation

	• Participate in a Varsity only Meet	1 point / meet
	• Participate in 4 events per Varsity Meet	2 points / meet **
	• Junior High Participant	1 point / year
	• 2nd Year Participant	3 points
	• 3rd Year Participant	4 points
	• 4th Year Participant	5 points

Section III: Point Requirement For Varsity Letter ^†

	• 14-16 Meet Season	40 points minimum
	• 12-13 Meet Season	35 points minimum
	• 10-11 Meet Season	30 points minimum
	• 8-9 Meet Season	25 points minimum
	• 6-7 Meet Season	20 points minimum
	• 4-5 Meet Season	15 points minimum

^† OHSAA Tournament Meets (Districts, Regionals, and State Meet) are not included as part of the regular season.

Section IV: Senior Participant Addendum

	Any Senior Participant who has shown outstanding dedication to the Track & Field program over their High School career may receive a Honorary Varsity Letter for their efforts.
	This section will be enacted at the coach’s discretion.

* This requirement does not apply if an athlete first sets a School Record in an event with NO previous time, distance, or height.
This requirement also does not apply if a student who first set a non-existent School Record breaks his or her own school record later in the SAME season. Students must wait for a new season before they can break their own record and have it count as a requirement under Section I.
Students may not double count breaking the same school record multiple times in the same season even if it replaces a previously held record.

** For Throwers, the set requirement will be 2 events per meet for 1½ points.
