Rules & Expectations

  1. Practices
    1. All Practices are Mandatory
    2. Practices are 3:30 - 5:30, Mon. - Fri. and 3:30 - 5:00, Wed.
      1. All Practices will be held at MCS with the exception of a few that will be held at Groveport HS.
      2. Throwing event practices may have a different schedule, please see Coach Timmons & Watson.
      3. Wednesday practices may be removed later in the season, dependent on Conditioning Levels
    3. Excused Absences / Tardies
      1. Class / Help Class / Tutoring
      2. Doctor / Dentist Appointment
      3. Sickness / Injury
      4. Death in the Family
    4. Unexcused Absences / Tardies
      1. Work
      2. No practice clothes
      3. Personal Reasons
      4. Detentions
    5. Notification of Absences / Tardies
      1. Must be made at least one day prior to practice
      2. Must be in written form (email, text or note)
      3. Medical Appointments must have Doctor's note
    6. Consequences for Unexcused Absence / Tardy
      1. Unexcused Absence (Any Tardy greater than 10 minutes)
        1. 1st Offense - Probation, Extra Conditioning
        2. 2nd Offense - Dismissal from team
      2. Unexcused Tardy (10 minutes Late or Less)
        1. 1st Offense - Extra Conditioning
        2. 2nd Offense - Probation, Extra Conditioning
        3. 3rd Offense - Dismissal from team
  2. Meets
    1. All athletes must ride to and from a meet together when possible and practical.
    2. Athletes may not leave the Stadium facilities at any time during a track meet without a coach's consent (Coach Myers, Souzis, Timmons or Watson).
    3. Athletes are required to attend practice the day prior to a meet or they may loose their spot in an event.
    4. Athletes must attend 75% of all scheduled meets to qualify for the Division III District meet.
  3. Uniform Requirements
    1. Practice
      1. Athletic shorts, shirt, warm-up/sweat-pants and warm-up/sweat-shirt.
        • Warm-Ups / Sweat Suite is required for 50o weather or below
      2. No School Uniform allowed.
        • PE Uniforms excepted
      3. Appropriate running shoes only (basketball & cross trainer shoes are not accepted)
        • Throwers are exempted from this rule.
      4. Athletes may not participate in practice with inappropriate uniform or shoes. This is considered an unexcused absence.
      5. Undergarments are not to be visible at any time.
    2. Meets
      1. Assigned Uniform must be worn.
        1. Black or white compression shorts may be worn underneath uniform shorts.
          1. OHSAA rules requires a solid color (including thread on all seams)
          2. OHSAA also requires that each member of a relay team must wear the same color
          3. If there is more than one manufacture's logo on the compression shorts or undershirt, it must be covered. The covering needs to be of the same color as the shirt or shorts.
        2. Rule a. above applies for Males and Females
      2. Females: no bobby pins or "hard" hair control devices longer than 2 inches.
        1. Soft "scrunches", hair bands, and/or pre-tape can be used as a hair control devices
      3. All uniform items assigned are the athlete's responsibility and will be returned in proper order.
  4. Conduct
    1. Being a Co-Ed extra-curricular sport, each participant is to behave in an appropriate manner. At no time shall there be any inappropriate behavior between a male and female athlete.
    2. Athletes must adhere to the codes and standards of Madison Christian School.
    3. Athletes must maintain a semester 2.0 GPA in order to be eligible and be passing at least FIVE 1 credit courses in the current or previous semester.
